Privacy Policy
Last Updated: December 2024
Introduction
Blurverse is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Blurverse browser extension. Our core principle is privacy-first: the extension works entirely locally on your device, and cloud sync is completely optional.
Local Storage (Always Active)
Blurverse operates primarily with local storage only. The extension stores the following data locally on your device:
- Blur settings: Information about which elements, text selections, or areas you have blurred on specific web pages
- Extension preferences: Your blur intensity settings, default preferences, and page-level blur settings
- Page-level settings: Per-page blur configurations and keep-blur preferences
- Access keys (optional): Only stored if you choose to enable cloud sync. Required for Pro cloud sync features.
- Device ID: A unique identifier generated locally on your device (only used if you enable cloud sync)
Important: All local data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Cloud sync is completely optional and requires both an access key and a Pro subscription.
Cloud Sync (Completely Optional)
Optional Feature Cloud sync is completely optional. The extension works fully without cloud sync, storing all data locally on your device.
If you choose to use the cloud sync feature (requires an access key and Pro subscription), the following data may be stored on our servers:
- Blur data: URLs, element XPaths, text selections, and area coordinates of your blurred content (synchronized across your devices)
- Device information: Device IDs associated with your account for multi-device synchronization
- Account information: Basic account details if you create an account (email for authentication only)
Cloud sync requires: (1) An access key generated from your account dashboard, (2) A Pro subscription, and (3) Explicit activation in the extension options page.
What We Don't Collect
Blurverse does NOT collect, store, or transmit the following information:
Extension Permissions
Blurverse requires the following permissions to function. Each permission is used only for its stated purpose:
activeTab
Allows the extension to access the current tab to apply blur effects when you click the extension icon. Only activates when you explicitly click the extension icon.
scripting
Required to inject blur functionality scripts into web pages. Scripts run locally and do not communicate with external servers.
storage
Used to save your blur preferences and settings locally on your device. All data is stored in your browser's local storage.
host_permissions (all_urls)
Required to work on all websites you visit. The extension only accesses pages when you explicitly activate it by clicking the extension icon.
Data Security
- All local data is stored securely in your browser's local storage and never leaves your device
- Cloud sync data (if enabled) is encrypted in transit and at rest using industry-standard encryption
- We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data
Your Rights
Access Your Data
View all data stored locally through the extension options page, or access cloud sync data through your account dashboard.
Delete Your Data
Clear all blur data and settings at any time through the Extension options page. For cloud sync data (if enabled), clear your access key or contact us to delete your account data.
Opt-Out of Cloud Sync
Cloud sync is optional. If enabled, you can disable it at any time by removing your access key from the extension options page. Your local data will continue to work normally without cloud sync.
